Their ode to LSD. Hard to believe this was released 43 years ago. Way ahead of their time.
My favorite drum solo. And the way the band comes back in afterwards is just amazing.
The riff is just crushing, and Iommi's trills are the stuff of legend. The drum and acoustic breakdown, the re-entry, Ozzy's vocals... It's all perfectly heavy. This album is absolutely killer. Glad to see some TGP love for this one.
Probably my favorite sabbath record. Just packed with crushing riffs and druggy vibe. Thanks to the coke-cola company
Tony Iommi created all the heaviest riffs known to man and left none for the rest of us!
Definitely should've been included on "We Sold Our Souls".
i believe this was Zappa's fave riff of all time too.
One of the best riffs.
Great riff, great song, great everything. A perfect heavy rock track. Vol. 4 was a daily nutritional element of my musical diet for quite a while.
Iommi's tone on the early Sabbath stuff was so primal and crushing!
Amazing groundbreaking stuff. Sabbath sounds better as time passes while many of their peers sound stuck in time.
Such an inspired production decision to introduce that acoustic breakdown...with the drums...like suddenly a Latin flavor was the right idea...and it WAS!
Drugs aside...which I know was an element, but never was for me, this continues to stand tall as an achievement that so many strive for, and never reach. Pure magic.
I was a big Sabbath fan back in the day and remain one to this day. This is one of my favorites from Vol. 4 but maybe I didn't play the album as much as I should have because I was so disappointed in the sound quality. I liked Ward's drumming but not the way the kit was recorded.
And as far as Sabbath is concerned, give me Master of Reality any day. I remember taking the record to church on a Wednesday night and playing After Forever in a R.A. meeting. Yeah, tis a true story. Master of Reality will forever remain my idea of "Heavy Metal".
My favorite Sabbath tune. just a brutal riff that still sounds soooo fresh.
I agree the first six albums defined heavy riff rock.
Thanks for the reminder of one of my favorite Sabbath songs and albums!
My favourite Sabbath tune too. Surprised they didn't play it on the current tour seeing as they are focusing on the early albums.
Iommi is a brilliant writer.
So many killer riffs......
as good as it gets. ever. how one man could come up with so many riffs boggles the mind.
Such a great song.
can anyone here get the same tone as Iommi on Supernaut? that is one heavy tone!
