Bout to walk in. Woohoo! Anyone else going?
I'm up in south Oklahoma and really wanted to. Big fan here and our band covers two of their tunes.
Circumstances prevented me from going but I'd sure be interested in hearing about it!
Love 'em. Won't miss another chance if they're in my neighborhood. Didn't care for the effects on the vocals on the latest record, though.
So how was the show?
JD Simo opened and ROCKED the house.
Gibson 335 and and old deluxe reverb... AMAZING.
Smoke did their thing.
lots of les pauls and juniors with a few customized teles thrown in.
Dallas guitar show is happening this weekend as well which brought in...
Brad Whitford and St Holmes joining for a couple of impromptu aerosmith tunes.
JD Simo ROCKED the house!!!
here's a little sound clip
Nice. Did the Smoke have any Germino onstage?
looks like charlie used germino, paul w/marshall.
That about sums it up. Simo rocked. Good stuff. My gf said he was all right. I said to pretend he was John Mayer.
BS was fantastic. Really enjoyed it, and will be seeing them again. Just a great time, great music, everyone singing along. Loved it.
Didn't see the MGL on stage, but the 4-hole Germino was there. What's the other amp there?
JD Simo and the Smoke..............must have been a great show.
I saw them in New Braunfels (just outside San Antonio)
Colton O'neill opend up and was Fantastic, really enjoyed his show.
Below is a video of Blackberry Smoke . Zoomed in on the Germino at around 2:00 mark.
Since I own a Germino, feel obliged
Don't know what the other amp next to it, got a pic below ...
Youtube apparently saw fit to knock the resolution down a chunk ???
I would be interested to hear Simo with a Deluxe Reverb.... IIRC, he doesn't use any pedals. A cranked DR is not going to get you the same amount as dirt as a cranked Marshall.
Definitely not the same kind of dirt. I have a BF DR and cranking it, I can get a good bit of compression and sustain going with a Gibson-type guitar. But it ain't the same as a Marshall.
Nice shots and video.
It reminds me of the big fella standing right in front of us. My gf and I picked our spot, and could see the stage just right, until that big ol boy who had seen BS 5 or 6 times (can't remember what his wife said) put his phone in the air to record the whole show.
After a couple of songs and some unsuccessful attempts to find a better spot, I asked if he minded, we couldn't see. So he pulled it in closer to his ear and kept on recording. My poor gf is 5'3" and has a difficult time seeing the stage as it is. Why the hell does everyone have to capture everything on their damn phone all the time?! I get the occasional capture or "lighter" in the air. But the whole damn show? Cmon! Put the phone down. Enjoy the show, and let the people around you enjoy the show, too.
Ok, rant over.
The second amp is an echopark vibrio something. Can't recall the exact name. Great company that makes some kick ass stuff. Charlie plays a les Paul style guitar the guy made as well
Vibramatic? Nice find, thanks!
Yea that sounds right, I think the LP style guitar is called a southsider to if I'm not mistaken. He's also using the new germanium fuzz from echo park or at least it's on his board.
