I have a 67 bandmaster head and I am looking to pick up a speaker cab for it. There are just so many option that my head is spinning. I play indie rock with a very light overdrive almost 100% of the time. I originally planned to go with a 2x12, but I like my guitar tone to be a bit "punchy" so then I began to consider 10s. Then someone mentioned the option of a cab with a 12 and a 10 to get a more complex sound with the best of boths worlds, which seems like that would be a great way to go.

The 12" speakers that have been recommend are:
    jensen c12n
    weber 12f50
    eminence red fang
    celestion v30s (uk)
    celestion greenbacks (uk)

And I have no clue about 10" speakers

a 2x12 or a 2x10 would be a lot easier for me to find, so I guess I am wondering if it would be worth the trouble to search for a 1210 cab?

    any advice is welcomed

I say buy a nice 212 and replace the baffle. Make sure you get a cab with a removable baffle. Its not difficult to make a baffle board.

or get an adaptor or ring so that the 12" hole becomes a 10" hole.

    Good 10" speakers:
    eminence: copperhead, ragin cajun
    weber: 10a125,10f125,10a150,10f150

yes, but be VERY CAREFULL when you pick a speaker combo. Some sound bad - for instance one speaker can have a much quicker attack than the other and you can have phase problems.
Ask people here, or ted weber, about which combo of 10"s and 12"s that works.

Yes, thats what I meant. That is, of course, if you decide to go with the 1210 config. I've never tried a 1210 cab, so I can't guess how they sound.

Call me crazy...but if you had a slightly oversize 2X12 cab, you could do a 1 X 12/2 X10 cab. Of course your impedance would require some post-grad trigonometry to figure out. MojoTone.com builds all kinds of cabs for pretty reasonable prices out of the right woods (baltic birch in particular) and could probably build the cab AND baffle cheaper than buying any vintage cab and modding it.

that is an interesting idea, I will check out mojotone.

and for anyone else interested in a 1210 configuration ted weber suggests 12f150 and 10a125 for this amp.
