Ok, need some solid advice here. (doing research currently)

Im looking to get 2 amps, and looking at the blackstar range. (due to my own personal preference)

However, there are 3 differnt amps that I can get in the same price range

-HT40 1x12
-HT60 Soloist 1x12
-HT60 Stage 2x12

ok, Im SO used to having 2x12's so my fingers first pointed me to that. and by going back to a 1x12 may not suit me, depends really.

But what are the main differnces between these 3 amps..they are all EL84 based, 40 watts and 60 watts respectively.

And can they handle a lot of clean headroom..as in at band volume, if I want pure clean can I achieve this with these amps or not?

So, Blackstar owners please speak up with your thoughts.

I've owned the Club 40 for about 2 months now and I love it! I originally had the 2x12 60 watt in mind but I tried it a local music store I really didn't like the 2 drive channels....too much gain and very buzzy. Probably was just the amp or the tubes but I was very bummed out. They didn't have the 60 watt 1x12 so I couldn't hear that model. So,next I plugged into the 40 watt 1x12. Wow....2 perfect channels(for me at least). A really chimey clean channel and a real thick sounding distortion channel. No buzz. It is the two channel Marshall that I always wanted but they never made. The digital reverb is good...I usually leave it at about 9:00 to add a little space. I am going to pick up the matching 1x12 cab to make a cool little stack. Sounds great at low volume as well as at band level. Overall I am extremely happy with the amp. :rockin

As for the main differences..they all use EL34 power tubes-

HT40 1x12- 2 channels
HT60 Soloist 1x12 - 2 channels with footswitchable boost
HT60 Stage 2x12 - 3 channels

I'm with Kenny on this one. The HT-40 is a great, all around versatile amp and can do many different types of music. I have owned many different amps and some very high end brands and this keeps up with and surpasses them all, for my ear that is. Its time to unload some gear that is now collecting dust.

I am a huge fan of the entire Blackstar HT range. I have played all of them including one of the 40 or so HT Soloist 60's (60 watt, 1X12) shipped to the states. My favorite is still the HT Club 40. The gain channel is the easiest to get a good tone out of and the clean channel is "big". The Soloist 60 clean is very big, maybe just a bit too much??? Dumb statement, but not sure how else to say it. The Club 40 clean is a great fit. The Soloists gain channel also takes a bit more work and never quite sounds right to me. All of the HT line sound a bit processed to me, but in a good way.....

well I sold my mesa today, and got a HT60 2x12 and a 2x12 Blackstar matching cab.

I Have to say, im extreme impressed, actually im kindda blown away, I never expected it to sound this good when I got it home..I mean when trying them out over the last few weeks.. everything at stores seems a lil vacant.. - not sure how they do it. a ceapish amp that really is better than most hot expensive amps!..

Perhaps its becasue its modern, and not vintage.

So im on a serious win with this!

Hi!

If you don't mind me asking, which Mesa model did you sell for the Blackstar, and what did'nt you like about it?

I'm sort of in the same situation (I own/selling a Mark 5)

Thanks!

I like the HT-60 the best because of the increased clean headroom and I feel the gains are more dynamic. I've only played the 2x12 version but I'd probably prefer the 1x12 for size and weight reasons.

Although, I still think the HT-40 is a killer amp as well!
