I had a LTD and I have a Zendrive. I prefer the Zendrive. That being said, I didn't own them at the same time so I never compared them side by side.

I have the Zen and the LTD ... I use the Zen on my pedalboard because I like it better with single coils for the tones that I'm going for, it adds a little more fatness that I dig especially for leads ... sounds great with humbuckers too. That said, for a light but sustaining bluesy OD with humbuckers I really like the LTD so I take it to gigs more often than not whenever I use my Les Paul and don't feel like using the super smooth sound of the Zendrive. They're both great pedals that have different flavours. Both worth getting.

I use a Blueboy with the LM1458 op amp and a 4-knob Mosferato, and it's an excellent match-up.I'd bet the Zendrive would compliment the Blueboy just fine!

Silver LTD's on my board now, right beside my Blues Devil. Two totally different sounding pedals, the new LTD's sound is somewhere in between the boosted/light overdrive of the RC & AC boosters. The BluesDevil's basically a tube screamer that I'm using for a thicker, dirtier tone.

I am interested in the Blues Devil.

So how does the Blues Devil and the LTD compare?
Or The BD against the blue boy?
or the BD against the Fish Factory?
Would the BD kill them all?

I have the Blue Boy with LM1458 and Zendrive.

They are not really similar at all, although the Blue boy is so versatile that it's difficult to tell how wide its range of tones really is. I've only explored a small amount of the internal settings in a live situation.

The Blue Boy seems to have more bass and sparkle/presence available. The Zendrive is smoother and darker although it does have a thickness to it that I can't seem to match with the blue boy. The blue boy has this harmonic chime and sweetness that the zendrive can't seem to match.

I like to set one for medium/higher gain and one for lower gain that sounds clean unless you dig in a bit. I haven't decided which one is better for which application.

    Both are outstanding pedals.

I'm also very interested in Joe Mena's pedals and would appreciate info about ANY of them. Which Menatone has the most gain? The least? They're impossible to find up here.

    FWIW, it's Brian Mena...

I use and love the Fish Factory...I did spend some time with Brian once going through each of his OD pedals but I honestly don't remember which would have the most or least gain. I just knew I needed a Fish Factory right away (done) and would probably like a Kar Krash and King Of The Britons in the future....

I also have a fish factory and love it... it has a fair amount of gain, although I don't have the gain past noon on either side of it..

    Bump of an old thread

    Just looked cool

How does the fish factory (FF) compare/contrast w/the Blues devil (BD)?

I own the blues devil and love it for those punchy leads

I have been told that the red snappers schematics are INDENTICAL to a boss sd-1. THat doesn't make it an SD-1,but it tells me that with dialing one could conceivably get sd-1 tones.

The blues devil is quite pedal friendly, it records exactly as it sounds in person. The pedal general is very light gain, the tone is subtle,...kinda like a treble cut style but it seems like adds some mids on the bassiest setting. Not a lot of bass transparency, so some bass cut. I never got the bloom thing.... I don't think it had much bloom.... Bloom is in a Klon or an original TS-9 ( just played one in Taipei days ago). The BD, has an interesting EQ, adding that gravely sound.
