Blues DeVille or '59 Bassman?

Which way would you go? I tried both of these out and they both sounded fantastic in the store but, admittedly I don't crank amps in the store either. They seem to be very similar but, what do you guys think?

I personally prefer the Bassman - but I have to admit - I do like a touch of Reverb......

bassman. check out ebay for some nice bassman heads. They are cheaper than you may think. I think an older amp, even if you factor in the cost of a tune up, (recap, re tube, cleanup, three prong power cord) will be a better amp. Plus a head + cab is a versatile setup considering you can use different cabs for different situations. I'd rather carry two lighter items than one heavy one. Good luck.

No question - Bassman. It will sound better at all volumes. I know form experience

I put these tubes in there:

1 ANOS JAN GE 12AY7
2 TungSol reissue 12AX7's
1 JJ 5AR4
2 Winged =C= SED 6L6's

Big difference. That rectifier tube that comes stock is crap.

Also try the new TungSol Reissue 5881s if you want warmer, darker tone and earlier breakup. I use them in mine, with all NOS preamp tubes and rectifier and it sounds awesome.
