If it's so good, why is it up for sale?

I played one of these briefly at Black Market Music when they were in SF about ten years ago. I remember thinking it was pretty cool, but it was 6K back then.

I heard one being played at a used shop in LA about 3-4 years ago, sounded like a marshall, save some bucks and get a vari-plex...

That amp is capable of many sounds and there are a lot of amps that sound a lot more like a Marshall than it does. Because of all the radically different design and the variac, it has some really good sounds but it is also capable of some very bad sounds if set up wrong.

I love the playing of Blues Saraceno, but that amp just has the appearance of a constant repair bill to me. Who's gonna work on that thing if it goes down? (I had a jumbo Variac Voltage Regulator once, don't want no more of 'em...)

Why are Dumbles, Pignoses or any other amp up for sale? Same old reasons.
