    hello everybody...
i finally found some time today to play guitar for myself and not the record or my students.. of course thats fun too.. anyway...
so while playing with the guitar into the Bogner i decided to go for a little video demo of the amp...
i chose this Steve Vai song because i have that tone from the first G3 DVD where Vai is playing the Bogner..and i love that tone...
so...this is the 3rd channel of the XTC Classic boosted...
no external boost pedals because i wanted to keep the singal clear so you can hear the actual amp...even though Vai uses a boost pedal live..anyway..
Also no Wah pedal for the same reason..
just sticking to the demo thing...
there's only a hint of delay from a boss DD3 in the loop for a little ambience..

of course i'm gonna warn you that i played this as worst as i could...proof is the mp3 file i have on that page..there it's played quite better..
but i'm too lazy to do these things twice...so there you have it..mistakes and all...
but i'm pretty sure you're gonna get a good idea on the tone of the XTC even thought his is an external recording from the cam mic...
oh..my guitar is a little flat...never mind that either...noticed it after the recording..lol

so..enjoy..and give me your opinions on this silly thing....
    Alex

    the file is about 15mb

Hey I can't give you any advise on your playing I can just envy that. I can give you a little tip on your cinematography. If you turn off any light source in the picture frame namely your computer monitor the cameras automatic exposure control will be able to do a better job with the exposure. In other words the monitor tricks the camera into seeing a brightly lit scene so it closes down the aperture of the cameras leaving you and the guitar in the dark. If the monitor were dark the entire scene would appear darker to the camera and the camera would open the shutter making the entire scene brighter. I hope you can take this as I intended as help not criticism. I always enjoy your playing and your song choices.

The tone and technique is all there! Hats off to you Alex, I'm not brave enough to post a vid of my playing. It would expose my hack method! I learn so much from everyone here, thanks for posting.

    Alex,
Really dug that one. I haven't heard that tune in a long while. I remember listening to that CD a lot when I was younger. That was the tune I wanted to play, but I was far from being able to pull it off- still am. You got some chops bro.... keep 'em coming.

BTW, what's in the water over there? You and Myron both have some skills.

    Alex-
Great stuff. I have checked out some of your stuff before- loved it.

How does that XTC Classic compare to the VH-4? I am using a VH-4 these days and really can't see myself ever needing another amp ever- period. I still own a VHT 100CL that I adore and a Marshall but find myself plugging into the VH-4 more than anything else.

    Nice playing.
