This is apparently a coined term to describe the frigid temps many of you are experiencing: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42544605

Stay warm, brothers. I hate to say it but looks like southern AZ will be nearly 80 the next few days. Here's a satellite of the event:

    It's relic season!

Not just in the northeast, but every East Coast UPS, Fedex, and USPS truck carting your new emporium purchase!
This is a looooooooong stretch of cold.

Be disciplined and give the box a full day to acclimate to room temp, or enjoy the sound of rice krispies....

'Bomb Cyclone' - who 'coined' that term? The Weather Channel?
@Social Exodus is right - last I remember - when I was a kid this
was actually called a 'cold front'.

But jeez can't have that can we? This weather can't be just cold
it has to be Al Queda cold.

From the WaPO: The storm’s enormous circulation will help draw several lobes of the polar vortex, the zone of frigid air encircling the North Pole, over the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast by Friday and Saturday. Wicked cold air sourced from Siberia, the North Pole and Greenland will all converge on the region.

That's a nice blend of cold airs from international sources. We should enjoy this curated sampling of air from abroad while it lasts.

It has been a FROZEN TURDBALL around here since Dec 23. No desire to leave warm indoors. SUCKS DONKEY PARTS!

It was -30C, -40C with the windchill, just a couple days ago and snowing hard. Now it's 0C (32F) and melting. Sloppy. But it feels like summer compared to a couple days ago.

Never before have I seen such sensationalism in weather news than I have in the past 5-10 years. I recall our weather guy on the news going "Mon we have..., Tue we have..., Wed we'll have... so buckle up them boots".... "back to you Frank!"

Today it's always named storm systems, even wind gales get names where I used to live. I was staying with my Bro, watching the local news and they go... "gale event Louisa will be misting waters over parts of I90".... I'm like WTF when did they start naming Wind?
