Bob, "just now?" Anchorage is usually warmer than Saskatoon this time of year. This is normal, not abnormal.

Where's the member from the NJ contingent who's claimed that his state has seen subtropical winters for decades?

For what it's worth here in the Ca. foothills we are back in full drought conditions and in all seriousness praying for percip of any kind ,.. mainly snow pack in the Sierras to feed our lakes this spring. I have been enjoying a lot of rock climbing and Mt biking, but it's seriously dry out here. One year ago the town of Oroville was being evacuated due to the 2nd largest lake in Ca. overflowing and breaking apart the spillway. Nuts
    The struggle is real people!

Like I said, I entertained his thought with a bit of skepticism, simply because I could not refute his statement. (Meaning I didn't have enough scientific knowledge to agree or disagree...)

I am ready! Bring it on.

And by ready I mean, bar is stocked, the pools are ready and I just got a bunch of new old Kenny Burrell music.. :)

Bob, a man with your blackbelt in Google-fu didn't have facts to hand? I'm surprised!

What your friend described is the normal situation. Anchorage is usually warmer than Saskatoon. Cold air usually flows out of Canada down into the US this time of year.

College night classes where meant to start up tonight this year, but due to the storm, heavy rain, 90+mph winds and most of the town being flooded between ankle and knee deep, college has been closed until the ''proper'' start of the term, as in when the day classes start up this coming Monday. I'm not complaining. I get one more night off of college night classes, and the girlfriend gets two nights off the night course she is taking, hopefuylly we're going to spend it infront of the new idiot box, either watching junk food for the mind, or killing stuff.

The friend is one of the guitar-playing brothers from my congregation, so, yeah, he's been known to quaff a few at home with me.

    What is a 'bomb cyclone'?
A "bomb cyclone" or "weather bomb" is an unofficial term for what is known as explosive cyclogenesis, according to BBC Weather.

This occurs when the central pressure of a low pressure system falls by 24 millibars in 24 hours and can result in violent winds developing around the system.

The winds can be strong enough to bring down trees and cause structural damage.

The Washington Post adds that the coming storm will "in many ways resemble a winter hurricane" which could be the eastern US's most intense in decades.

It comes as the average temperature across the continental US hovered around 9.1F (-12.7C) on Tuesday morning, acco

I guess they need something other than you know who to talk about.

I follow the weather daily. I am fascinated by it. I have never heard of a Bomb Cyclone in the 30 years I have been watching weather.
