I kinda like it too... but I have to say that I've heard a lot of artists in this "genre" that I think are even stronger songwriters and performers, that have not gotten as much notice (yet). This, of course, is just my opinion, but I felt compelled to chime in because it was the topic of conversation the other night. Nevertheless, I do think it's great when a talented underground artist like Bon Iver with a humble little recording gets some attention. Thanks for posting - jv
hey johnee vee!!
please let me know who those guys are- i'd love to check em out.
thanks
For some reason, as I've gotten older I have less tolerance for music that depresses me.
Yo Aram,
I did go and take another listen to Bon Iver, and I must say it's growing on me. It was originally recommended to me by a musician I respect very much, and I liked it. It just didn't do the same thing to me that stuff like Elliott Smith, Vic Chesnutt, Neutral Milk Hotel, Nick Drake and the like had done in the past. I know that's a tall order, but I seem to have very specific taste.
Anyway, here are a few artists that you might dig. I've had the pleasure of sharing shows with them and watched them slowly start to rise out of obscurity. Thanks for inviting my 2 cents
Peace - jv

for some reason, the longer i'm on TGP, I get less tolerant of downer posts that depress me.
That's a little harsh. I didn't mean to be dismissive of the music. I can appreciate the artistry. Just saying that personally I can't listen to Neutral Milk Hotel or Bon Iver (or Radiohead for that matter) because I find it too depressing. The failing is mine.
