After all, they seen a million faces, and they rocked 'em all.

Honestly, I didn't know they were eligible.

i've kinda lost interest in jbj... and from everything you hear through the grapevine.. he's not exactly the nicest guy to work with... but...........

they were a band that defined an entire genre of music... and they had a few songs that basically defined a decade

plus... you look at all the other bands that broke through when bon jovi did. how many of them are still touring and still relevant? not many.

they gotta be in there.

Biggest knock on Bon Jovi is that they didn't write most of their big hits. Desmond Child should go into the HoF before Bon Jovi.

Sure they should. I don't value the HOF at all, though. Public Enemy is more important musically and culturally than BJ's 80's hairspray, chick metal, IMHO. NTTAWWT.

Bon Jovi suck, but then so does the HoF - they're welcome to one another.

I thought the Beatles wrote most of their hits?

That's exactly my point. The Beatles set the standard for rock bands, imo. Several bands from that era were just as successful and had at least one great writer in the band. Some of them needed a great producer to pull it out of them (Def Leppard comes to mind). Bon Jovi and Sambora did write a lot of good material (with Wanted Dead or Alive being tops of the list) but the big chart-toppers were outside writers.

Desmond Child did co-write with Bon Jovi, but he didn't write any of the tunes they recorded by himself. Most, if not all, of the songs that Desmond Child receives credit for were written as a collaboration between Desmond, Richie, and Jon.

As for whether they deserve it. I'd say yes. They are one of the few bands from the 80's that can still pack an Arena. Their 2010 tour was listed as the most profitable tour that year and their 2011 tour was the second most profitable. It's not everybodies cup of tea but somebody bought all those records and concert tickets.

And how much did they charge for tickets?

Of course, they would need to be nominated again. They made the ballot once before, but are not on it this year.
