After the expired plate ticket I am paranoid. Someone posted a reply ( and maybe deleted ) regarding dog tags. Guess what..... I was late on that too. In all honesty I had two other dogs and I don't believe I ever got tags for them but they were never out in public. I'm a rebel I guess. Why do dogs require tags and not cats ? Is there some kind of racism going on here ? I don't get it.

I am superstitious and things happen in threes so I figure I better get the dog the tag today. I find out I can go to the hardware store and do it same day. $18.00 yearly for dog tags.

I walk my dog everyday in the Metro Parks probably a bigger chance of getting called on it.

How much are dog tags in your state and be honest do you always get tags for your dogs...... and on time ?

Next thread is about a cracked windshield that needs fixed asap or I know the same guy will get me for this too.

Tags in MO are about $70 for two years, but you have to have an inspection done. That's about $13 now, I think. I'll find out in the next month, have to retag the truck.

I don't tag my dog. He's not going anywhere and I'm not paying a dog tax. Yeah…that's right…come and get me!

$25/dog each year, or if you feel lucky, a one time $250 for life tag.
if you get caught, $25 fine plus you have to buy the tag anyway.
Occasionally they'll go door to door and spot check the great unwashed to ensure they're in compliance.

Haven't registered my dogs for tags in years. They no longer appear in public. If they were to become lost, they are chipped. In five months, I qualify for a free exemption. Guess it isn't happening.

My dog claims he's a sovereign citizen and refuses to be tagged.

I think he watched some youtube video or something and got the idea...

County exemption based on owner's age. You may be able to check if there is one in your area online.

Forgetfulness is a forgivable offense. The authorities may see it differently, because to them, people who are 'forgetful' regards their renewal of licenses, etc, are still skirting the law. Just try to be more diligent when it involves your adherence to being law-abiding. You'll worry less and not feel as anxious about being law-abiding.:)

Why would anyone be foolish enough to present their dog at the door? or let someone inside for that purpose (without a warrant)? Doesn't make any sense.

Dave - it's too late brother. You've already crossed over to the dark side.

Just embrace it, go home this evening, remove all the tags from your pillows and copy a couple dvds for good measure.

And here's your new theme song: (it's a great one, btw)

Dog tags are required because loose dogs are a common public nuisance. Check any police log.

With the tag, the authorities can also enforce rabies vax law by making it a prerequisite to licensure, and if the tag is worn, it helps authorities identify the owner in case of loose dog, lost dog, bite incident, struck by vehicle, etc.

Cats tend not to cause issues that require police.

    .... except for catburglars, natch

Maybe the cats are just sneaky and good at what they do. :)

They kill....... birds, squirrels etc. They must have connections.
