Check-in for room at hotel casino and I ask desk clerk if its busy and he says, a little, Bonnie Rait playing tonight in about 2-hours and only a few seats available. I look at my other half and she says no, lets gamble and have a few drinks as planned, so I don't press the issue.

We come down stairs gamble and she wants to grab a drink at this bar. As we approach bar, across from it is the venue with people in line to get in and I say, if anyone offers us free tix, then we're going, deal... she laughs and says sure honey...not more than 10-steps later, couple ask me if I want 2-free tix....lol, so she holds up to bargain, we chat with nice couple, buy them a round, etc.

WOW! She killed it, her voice and playing was incredible... amazing voice... she still hits every note with ease. She played 90-minutes, so stock show, but band and her were great. We've both always liked her a lot, but never caught her live.

No cell pic/video policy and nobody broke the rule... so nice!

Go catch her with your other half...regardless of seats, just go! We had a great time and her piano player, who actually opened with his trio were great.

Awesome. But the topic the way you wrote it almost had me thinking she died!

That "piano player" is John Cleary, a remarkable musician and a native Englishman who is now an adopted son of New Orleans. Everybody in Bonnie's band is a monster as far as I'm concerned.

I’ve seen her a couple of times and would love to see her again. She’s coming close soon with James Taylor but the ticket prices are outrageous.

Saw her in the 70's, glad to hear she still has it. A real class act.

    Cool story!

10 years ago I went to California w my wife. Stayed in Santa Monica for a couple of day.
While out walking one evening we passed the Civic Auditorium.
"Jackson Brownes - Hurricane Benefit concert".... Starts in 10 minutes.
    Damn! Sold out!
Two ladies walk up to us. "You need tickets? We have two extra. Take them. It's yours"

Not bad. Free tickets to see Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Ry Cooder(!!!), Joan Baez...among others.

we've seen her 4 times in the past 3 years. two shows back we had front row center seats for her show in a 2000 seat theater...just incredible that close to the band. Saw the JT show with Bonnie last fall and it was worth every dollar.

Well, then... you've given me a new venue to check out for concerts while I go visit family off of Rancho California Road in Temecula. I was just there last month.
Glad you were able to see the show.
It's funny - if you have an older demo as an act... tickets can be assigned to flaky, no-show people because they're busy with their lives.

We're thinking of catching her and JT at Hollywood Bowl... just grab a few back of house seats, as good seats start at $500.00 ea.

The least expensive ticket is almost $89 after Ticketmaster fees are added.
