Boogie Mark 1 RI vs. Maverick

They don't compare very well in my mind. Both are great, but I find my Maverick to be a much more usable amp. 35 watts is far more manageable (to me) than the Mark series. I just like being able to push the EL84s. It's easier to find the sweet spot. If you're looking for a big clean sound, the Mark will be the better choice.

Not to get off topic but what would you compare the maverick to? You don't hear much about them but it seems the guys who like really like them.

I have a Bassman RI 4x10, and sometimes I feel that and the MK1 are redundant in terms of cleans (though I like the 3D vibe of the 4x10 vs the 1x12). Main reason I wouldn't mind switching it up.

While I own one, I wouldn't describe myself as a devotee. I haven't gigged with it in a few years. I don't use the drive channel (on any amp). It's a bit more Vox-like in terms of the natural overdrive. The cleans on the Mark are (IMO) more akin to a Fender Twin.

Right on. Would you agree that it might be a more reasonable amp in terms of club gig volume than a Mark 1, where I'm usually lucky to crack 2-3 on the master?

Maverick cleans are sorta hot-Vox with a bit of Fender. Decent headroom, but it will start to dirty up when you push the volume. Fortunately, that is arguably the nicest tone the amp has, and it does have a few! Biggest downside for me is that I own the 4x10". My favorite speaker config sonically, but it's stupidly heavy. Wish I could find the long head and cab.
