Boss FA1 inside pics!

I purchased one and I want to compare, specially the wires to led diode and battery! When you put the battery in the pedal the led starts to light so I need to disconnect the battery every time I stop playing it, is this normal?

The LED should go out (and the battery disconnects) when you remove the plug from the input jack.

The original Boss schematic that I have does not show an LED, so I'm wondering if it was added later? Or maybe a later Boss version than my schem.
