I just got a 50 a couple weeks ago and I can assure you it's not the amp - I got it updated with both the midi driver and firmware within just a few minutes. I was thinking it might be something with your computer, but as long as you can hook up the amp to the computer and see the amp as a drive, it's just a matter of dragging the right folders over, so it really shouldn't be that. If you're able to see the amp and drag files/folders to it, I'd just try it again after reading the directions really carefully. If you can't get the amp to show up as a drive on your computer, something else is going on...

Good luck,

-Ray
I did get it to show up as a drive, but still not working out for me.

Yes, it is. I've only had it for about 3 1/2 months but I love it. It's a great guitar. Traded my Lucille for it locally with a guy whose a Beatle fanatic. He had two and was glad to trade one for something different.

I've always wanted a hollow body and humbuckers and I don't get along all that well so a Casino seemed like fair solution. This is the fourth current Epiphone I've owned and the value they offer is outstanding.
Ive had mine about 9 months and it's a nice compliment to my Strat and Tele. Does yours have humbuckers? Mine has P90's in it. Ive owned a couple Epi's and have always found the quality to be really nice also.

Dog Ear P90s like all the rest. I've never seen a Casino with humbuckers.

I had an ES339 with humbuckers that a really good friend of mine wanted. I didn't want to part with it but he offered me the Lucille in trade for it so I knew if I couldn't get on with it that I could easily swap for another ES339 or a Casino.

The Casino won out and I'm quite happy it did. It's a whole level up from the Dots and 339s. More in the same class as the Lucille and the Sheraton but without the glitzier look. I like that.

I'll try this in the correct section. Anybody had issues with the driver signature? Trying this setup with the Katana and I can't install the driver because of a missing Windows Driver Signature with Windows 7 and the Boss software. Software seems pretty dodgy at best. I wanted the flexibility with the interface, it doesn't work the amp goes back. I've been all over the web and this site.. just not finding anything.

It's a Win7 thing. You need to hit F8 (at least on my Dell Win 7 machine, your may be different) during boot up and it takes you to a page where you can scroll down to make a selection to turn off the windows signature requirement for drivers. Then let it boot normally. Works fine for me. Drag is you have to do it every time you want to use BTS. So I usually just use my little Win10 tab which doesn't have that issue. Good luck!

I put an Eminence Cannabis Rex in my previous amp (Traynor YGM-3) and it made that amp sound amazing. I'm currently in love with my Katana 100! But I'm wondering what it might sound like with the C-Rex. Has anyone swapped the stock speaker for the C-Rex? Or it is designed more for a "Fender" type sounding amp?

Depends which tone you are after, someone did it in is KTN50. The guy in the comments actually says that he went back with the EOM.

In thinking about switching one of the speakers in the 2x12 for a swamp thang... But will it fit?
I have the Kat50 and I had to slightly bend a metal tab on the speaker basket to get it to fit. Not sure about the room in the 2x12 cabinets. But sounds a lot smoother than the stock speaker.

I was thinking of putting a Jensen Mod 12-70 in my Kat-50........has anybody here done this? What is your opinion of the Mod series? I had one in my Superchamp XD and it was a net improvement; since the ver. 2 upgrade I like the sound of the Kat quite a bit better, but the low end is kind of flabby, IMO......

Sorry, I wouldn't have known from your post just how in depth your amp knowledge was.

Then I guess the parameters controlled are just narrower on the Katana. My Blues Cubes seems to be similar so maybe it's simply the way BOSS/Roland designs it.
No apology necessary, and the info you supplied is good to have out there!

Interesting that the Blues Cube is similar, I wonder if some future firmware update will make the presence control's parameters adjustable.

If it's not currently adjustable in the Katana Tone Studio maybe that's something those in close contact with BOSS like Elantric and a few others could suggest to them as far as adding adjustability in a future update.

My Blues Cube is one of the originals so it's still '90s technology but much like it's Rectifex circuit which can emulate either a tube or a SS rectifier the Presence control is more obvious when playing in the higher gain Lead Channel than in the Clean Channel or in it's "crunch" settings which take it to the edge of break up or just over the edge.

I have to wonder if that might also be the case with the Katana where it would also be more noticeable in the higher gain Lead and Brown amps than the Clean or Crunch. I'll have to try it with mine and see what I get.

The CRex is an American voiced speaker vs those the amp uses stock or the Celestion Vintage 30s I'm using which to me are more traditionally a British voicing.

I think you'd find as you probably did with your Traynor that a CRex would smooth out some of the top end without losing it and you'd also get a more full rounder bottom end.

I believe it would change the basic voice of the amp somewhat making it a bit mellower and somewhat darker but whether or not that's a direction you want to go in is up to you.

I really liked the change it gave me in my Blues Cube 60 but then that amp is patterned off a 6L6 type Fender Tweed where as the Katana has a different slant to it. I hear a tighter bottom end and more mids much like I can get when I run EL34s in my Tweaker to lean it more toward a Marshall type tonality but a CRex might draw it back more in the direction of a Fender if that's what you want.

I have tried to find an answer for this but I have been unable too. When I use Tone Studio and set up all my effects exactly how I want them, how do I save it to the amp?

Use the button "write" somewhere at the top of BTS or hold for a second the channel switch on the amp's panel. (that's from top of my head as I'm at office)

Thanks. It will be saved to one of the amps presets then? Such as Channel 1 or 2? For some reason I was under the impression that I could choose the effects I wanted as "part" of the amp and not be limited to what comes stock on the amp? Was I wrong about that?

Maybe I don't know what I'm doing (it's entirely possible, so I don't rule that out), but I just can't get a good sound out of the delays on this amp. I've gone back to my Aqua Puss, which just seems more intuitive (and sounds a heck of a lot better). Are other folks having a better time tweaking things than I am?

Generally, I love the sound of this amp. But, I've found that since I only need a pretty simple setup (light overdrive, reverb, delay, tremolo) and given that I'm not having much luck in getting the right tones using the onboard effects, I'm just going with using all outboard options and just setting up the channels just with the Sneaky Amps sans effects. I think it sounds better, but again, it might just be that I can't figure out how to dial in the right tone using the computer and these onboard effects.
