Okay! Now when I open Tone Studio, it says I need to update my driver, but when I try to update my driver, it says the driver is already installed. I know the cable works because I used it to do the firmware update. Did anyone else have this problem?

Yeah James Ryan is a great player and has probably sold a ton of these amps.

That usually means you need to update your Katana firmware to the latest 2.02 version for the driver to recognise the Katana.

If just the driver needs updating, then you must "UNINSTALL" the previous Katana driver.

I just updated to 2.02 so I'll try uninstalling the driver.

I used to have a HRD (the one before the 3...presumably a 2?) and I had a Peavey Bandit. I'll take my Katana 112 over either. With the Katana and the GA-FC switcher and an expression pedal, it's a winner for me. I do use some sneaky amps. With the 8 patches, I have my main bases covered. One switch and I'm playing.

Is anyone having good success with the built in fuzzes? Can they replicate any stand lone pedals and which amp models do they work best with? I’ve just watched The Pedal Show about fuzzes and want to get stuck in...

ok so i just came back from my friend who has the 100w 1x12. Amazing tones in this amp! I'm buying but cant decide on the 1x12 or 2x12. Anyone in here had the 1x12 and went for the 2x12?

I tried the built-in fuzzes a little. Wasn’t impressed. I think it’s an area where the Katana falls short.

Anyone with a 2x12 thought about closing the back? I did it with my line 6 flextone with very good results....

Ideally yes. But unfortunately I have a budget. So it will be either the 100/112 or 100/212. I reckon the 212 sounds much bigger or is it marginally?

Especially that you need to set them to your taste through BTS and then once saved you cannot really mess with the adjustments via the only one knob available on the amp, and as mentioned they are not that great, this is why I got an external fuzz pedal, much more convenient.

I got everything working and played with the with sneaky amps for awhile. They sound MUCH better than the stock settings.

I have the 100w 1x12. What are these "sneaky amps"?

I’m considering selling my Blackstar HT5R head and 1x12 cab and buying a Katana 100. Can’t decide if it’s a good or bad idea. I like to use either my pedalboard or Line 6 Firehawk with my amp and have read that the Katana clean channel is very well suited for this.

@Sneekyb Here is quick clip I did with pedals going into the clean channel. YMMV but the Katana is doing fine with pedals.

Just bought a new cab with Celestion Greenback.
Finally all the fizz is gone!

While I haven't tried the 2x12 Katana, generally speaking, every 1x12 amp I've tried over the past 50 years sounded somewhat "boxy" to me compared to amps with multiple speakers. But some people like 1x12's fine. I moved out my 1x12 Katana for that reason once I heard the Katana head on a multi-speaker cab...but that's just me. Just depends on how "you" hear it I suppose.

Among other valve amps I once had a baby HT1R. It was kind of cool. My advice is that the Katana 100 is so cheap that you should find a way to hang on to your Blackstar and buy the Katana. Only sell the Blackstar if you are convinced it no longer has merit in your line up.
