    My K100C was bright stock and mellowed some with speaker break in. It got better again with a V30 but was still ultimately a bright amp which probably felt especially so considering it lacked a load of bottom end.

    I've owned a couple of Vox's and Marshall amps and whilst I generally head towards warmer tones, I do like some presence in my sound and like cut (rather than spike).

    The Katana head through a big, dark cab is absolutely fine IME. Through the stock internal speaker it's also fine and not bright like the combo. I use V30 speakers exclusively as they work for all musical styles from great cleans to detuned high gain. This speaker seems to work well with the Katana. If you're running a Jensen or a classic Fender speaker it's likely going to take your head off with a Tele.

    I remember a guy running my AC30 with a razor sharp Tele and my goodness did it hurt. He seemed happy but I'd rolled off the cut to nearly nothing and turned the treble WAY down by that stage just so my hearing would survive.

    One man's pain is another man's hearing damage I guess. :p

    Ok, today my 212 Katana combo arrived from Sweetwater. I also have a Roland Blues Cube Artist which I love. Within a few minutes of plugging the Katana in, I actually think it sounds better than my blues cube that cost twice as much. The Artist isn't going anywhere, but I just can't believe how this Katana sounds!

    My apologies for not fully reading this super long thread, but I did manage to get 100 or so pages in. I didn't find any in the manual for version two on how it the midi works with the extra bank that was added in firmware version two. Does it have eight controllable banks via midi now instead of four?

    This. I think Katana is quite good compromise between too bright Fenderish tone and too muddy Marsallish tone. With a little master eq you can make it sound just as you wish.

    The Kat 100 now has 8 channels, arranged as 2 banks of 4 channels (KAT 50 has 2 x 2), the midi side is simple.
    Patch Change (P.C.) is 1~9 for channels 1~8 + Panel channel. (based on the PC 1~128 numbering system)

    Should we be expecting any big changes at NAMM? I'm pretty well convinced I'm going to guy a Katana but wondering if I should wait and see what happens at NAMM. I wouldn't want to miss out on something new that I might like but also don't want them to bring out something I don't want and not be able to get the current version. Thoughts?

    I doubt Boss will release any competing Katana models at 2018 Winter NAMM
    Nor do I expect anything major being announced

    Historically past 5 years its been the German Musikmesse trade show where Roland /Boss introduces new guitar products

    Just tried the floorboard after updating to the latest firmware. I suppose it is not possible to exchange the default 5 amp models on the knob with hidden amps so I can save myself from connecting a notebook by USB all the time?

    Think an American-voiced Kat, with a 6L6 modeled power amp section vs. the EL34 power section, could ever be in the works? I think it would cannibalize the blues cube sales though.

    Sooner or later they have to update it.

    How about a Katana Pro? 1x12 and a head.

    Something like
    * 6 simultaneous effects
    * Patch and stomp box mode.
    * All Sneaky amp models
    * 100 Presets
    * Mustang GT like color LCD display for editing
    * Tuner
    * MIDI
    * XLR outs
    * iOS and Android app
    * 1x12 with a speaker out
    * Dedicated programmable MIDI footswitch

    I'd like to see a Katana floor unit that can double as a controller for a Katana amp. Something with a decent sized LCD screen. I'd pay 500+ for it.

    Hi All

    Kat 1x100 owner here.
    Been trying to find the docs on how to use the updates on Tone Studio(global eq etc) but can't seem to find it. Tried global eq last night and some parts seem to work but others seem to have no effect.
    Thanks

    That's very interesting.
    I've been thinking of getting a BCA,but should maybe consider a Katana.
    What is it about the Katana that you think is better than the BCA?

    I had a Blues Cube Hot and Artist and prefer my Kat100 combo to both. The BC’s model tweed amps in all their glory and all their faults - Chief for me was loose low end. I play h
