Thats exactly what i noticed.[bride p/u and volume knob at max]...COmpression helped a lot too....I tried Emg actives through it and it surprisingly cleaned up the high gain,??wtf?? I thought it would have the opposite effect!
So many ppl are returning this amp after a week [like i nearly did] but most that keep it past that, keep it forever...THat says a lot to me...

I love his youtube channel....'shut up and play'......l'm a subscriber

I'm sure he could make the kat do whatever too. He uses tc nova system with egnater.

and Satriani used axe fx too, just saying...

I'm sorry but I don't feel like going through 600+ pages of this thread and I have a question.

I just bought the Katana 50 and am having trouble installing the Tone Studio program on my computer.
I have installed the current driver and have updated the Katana itself to the latest firmware.
When I download the Tone Studio program and double-click the application, the program doesn't seem to install.
I can see the status bar and it goes all the way down but then there's nothing.....no program to run, no installation, nothing.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Guys I read a lot about the too high volume in 50w mode even. I nice you can cut overall volume in global eq, is that wise to do? Or are there downsides to use global eq to cut overall volume?

More talk.... all sizzle no steak

Re Joe, he uses Axe-FX for EFFECTS, not amp models!

    https://www.playguitarlive.com/joe-satriani-live-rig-2016/

I have no doubt Axe-Fx, Helix and Kemper are great for effects.

It's the amp modeling that I don't buy

I think that Gary Moore style with the right cab is a definite candidate for the K head.

Lots of gain and a boost and you probably have a pretty good impression. This is the stuff it excels at.

Need the chops firstly and then the guitar, that cab and mic/mic pre.

Now...get a Katana to nail a Vox Brian May drive or AC30 clean and it’s dead in the water.

It’s interesting about the poster with the Kemper.

I also did a lot of AB’ing with a Helix and K recently and whilst the Helix did sound a bit better/clearer through the K power section I actually disliked the overall feel of the Helix. It had an odd fake feel and response. I really like the K feel overall. Varies a bit but it’s very playable and fluid. Not really like a tube amp but still good (tube amps vary tremendously as well).

Tonally the K stacked up pretty well into a guitar cab.

Big difference direct like the Kemper. Helix with IRs kills the K through headphones. Katana absolutely NEEDS the ability to load an IR. Even just one.

Sold the Helix, kept the K head. I liked the clarity of the FX in the Helix better but it was large, expensive and not inspiring like say a H9 which I personally found amazing.

I hope the K Artist is a nice step up on the K myself as that will signify something good.

Boss must be working on their next gen modelling tech...it’s been years since they had a breakthrough...so imagine a better Katana plus better modelling tech.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if it was here for NAMM 2018.

I play anything from bluesy experimental stuff to stoner rock and doom. Or anything else that seems like fun at the moment. I get bored a lot!

I am having an issue with my Katana 100W 112 I was wondering if anyone had some insight. What I am trying to accomplish is to simply use the Panel Setting to dial in 4 different sounds (one from clean/crunch/lead and brown) and then save them to channels 1,2,3 and 4 respectively. So that when I switch on channel 1, for example, there is my clean sound and I can then use to the GA-FC to toggle the 3 effects from the panel on and off. The method I have been using to try to do this is to hold the Panel Button down a few seconds till it stays lit, then dial in the amp and tone and effects I want for that channel. Once happy, I then hold down the respective channel button for a few seconds till it lights. My understanding is that now the panel settings I had are "saved to to that channel". Seems to work for one channel, but when I switch to Pannel to start setting up Channel 2, the delay effect is active even when he effect knob is turned to off on the panel. Turning the Reverb knob to off seems to fix this, but then I have no reverb.
I saw there was a delay issue, the required a reset, which I performed, but it dosen't seem to work. (Also performed required version 2 update and checked it was current)
I am getting a bit frustrated, perhaps I am doing this wrong. I don't use Tone Studio at the moment, i simply want to dial in and save four sounds, any advice would be most appreciated.
    Thank you.

Go to your channel, panel etc and yes hold down the channel button 'til its saved and that channel will now hold the settings. Going to another channel will change back to that channels settings.

Panel cannot save anything like other channels.

Can you copy patches/channels from Bank 1 to Bank 2? Like say Bank 1 channel 1 to Bank 2 X channel?

Seems to work except for the effects settings. Does saving the panel setting to a channel remember the effects settings, and then can toggle them on or off? What I mean to say is this: If I save the Panel to a channel 1 with a analog delay. Then I save a Panel to channel 2 with a digital delay type (or even a tremolo or octave) when I switch to those saved channels will the retain their effects settings?

New video tonight on the Katana Artist revealing there’s Speaker Out with an 8 ohm and two 16 ohm options, cabinet resonance selector, internal Waza Craft speaker, and a midi jack. Somewhere between a combo and a head? - cool.

It should remember everything. So if you turn off an FX like delay and say add a trem and hit save it should remember the next time you select that channel (so delay should be off and trem should be on).

Is there a Boss email update announcing software updates for the Katana? As much as I love all you guys, I'm really only following the thread to get the update notices.
