I was wondering if someone knew if you can switch between different phrases with an external footswitch (FS-5 or FS-6) on the Boss RC-2 Loop Station??

    Thanks

It's supposedly possible, yes, but not very practical. With your typical verse-refrain-verse-refrain-chorus-verse-coda deal, you'd have to record each verse/refrain, as it's only possible to switch upwards to the next recorded phrase. Another thing that really bugs me, is that the footswitch somehow triggers one of the prerecorded backing tracks on the RC-2, so that instead of my Fripp-esque ambient soundscape, some honkytonk shuffle groove is blasting through my amp! :BITCH Does anyone know how to erase these tracks from the RC-2 - is there a chip I can remove or something?

You can step through the phrases using a FS-6...I had one. I hated the fact that you have to use batteries in it (and disconnect when not in use) so I returned it and use a FS-5 which does not allow for switching phrases...but no battery :)

The RC-20XL will allow you to switch up and down between the phrases at will with an FS-6.

can you see what phrase you're on??

can you play two phrases at once??

can you go up and down without the FS-6??

The light on the 20XL will blink the number of the memory slot you're on

Only one phrase at a time (to play two or three, you're looking at RC-50 territory)

Without the FS-6, only way to go up and down is with your fingers

Cool! I haven't tried my hands at soldering before, but I'm tempted to try this mod. There are a couple of things I'm not 100% clear about from the description on your page, do you think you could explain a little more in detail about which wire goes where? Is everything soldered to the "Stop/Tempo" input? (From) where does the ground wire go (to)? Do you desolder the battery wires, or just cut them off?

Newbie at this, sorry for all the questions...
