They put the hump in the right place. I dont like ts pedals nearly as much.

I’ve got one and freaking love it. Cheap and cheerful for sure.

I have a Klon KTR. I use the SD-1 over it every time.

Into the dirt channel on my Morris head the SD-1W is my favourite pedal.

I sold my RC Booster which I also like a lot.

Got my first a few weeks ago, love it. It colors the tone in a great way.
OP, you aren't in Hamilton by any chance are you? I was in a shop earlier today and talked to somebody who was buying one of these. Maybe it was you?

They both do things to the lower upper mids while boosting them in different ways.

The TS is more compressed the SD1 is more open and provides more "air".

I have and love both my TS and SD pedals but I can see why people prefer one over the other.

That being said SD1 love all day :)

Take your fav Fuzz Face, and pair it with an SD-1.

    That's a singing lead tone , right there .

I love it! So much better than the overhyped, stinky BD-2

It’s the cheapest drive pedal I own and it’s still one of my favorites. It makes my guitar sound more like the guitars in my head. What more can I ask?

A timely thread in that a couple of nights ago I pulled mine out of the closet (it's been packed for years) and put it on my board. BLOWN AWAY. Seriously what the hell was I thinking?? Sounded freaking great, especially driving other pedals. It was like a new pedal day by surprise.

An SD-1 into the front of a cranked Marshall 2203/2204 is text-book old-school Metal tone. I got mine for $30 used years ago and I love it.

I've been playing since the late '80s.. I've used different od's and distortions over the years, but mostly a Tubescreamer for much of that time. I got my first SD1 just last year. I wish I tried one years ago! Such an awesome pedal. Sounds consistent with all my guitars and amps.

    Yeah same here.

Hell I tried a stock DS1....I even liked that one too. Current production....played the SD1 stock again even though I have the SD1W MIJ.....its dope too....

    Plan on getting both soon.

The new SMD production is top notch. Some of the best BOSS pedals made IMO. Yes not upgradable....but they just sound great and get the job done.

Not just for the money....in general they just sound great and are classics for a reason.

I do like my SD1W a tad better but the SD1 stock is dope enough and I got some major riffage from one....ganna get one to join the SD1W, the TS9, OD808 and Sugar Drive/Klone.

Hell even a DS1 current production.

Played on a Nextone and I was mega impressed.

Simple....not the best....but sounds damn good....hard to explain....

Sort of like greasy salty McDonalds french fries. .......you know its bad for you...but they taste so good. Yummy...especially when you drench em in ketchup....and the happy meal too....with a toy

    BOSS.

    Simple....not the best....but sounds great :)

I love the SD1, too, especially into a dirty Marshall or Mesa.

If you want to try a cool variation, try the MXR CBMOD.
