He's getting it for Christmas.. Just like daddy's, only shinier.. and erm.. redder :)

    He's going to be stoked.

He's been playing a Squire Mike Dirnt, but it's just to much of a stretch to the first fret for his little arms.

Great choice! The shorter scale will be a revelation to him I'm sure. Those are really good sounding basses as well. Light years better than what I had as a kid.

You're right. I plugged it in for 5 mins just to tune it and make sure the knobs and pups worked etc. I was VERY happy with the tone and playability.. It's an actual instrument. No doubt :)

That was my son's first bass as well (but in silver). Very decent bass indeed! What a great gift!

@joshinthecity's kid comes home from his first bass lesson

"look dad, they taught me the E string!" (plucks E,E,E,E)

next week after the kid's second lesson

"they taught me the A string!" (plucks A,A,A,A)

third week, kid doesn't come home, joshinthecity is flipping out with worry

kid rolls in at 3am; dad demands to know where the hell he's been

"oh, sorry dad, had a gig"

Excellent move pop. I was the same age when my dad bought me my first bass. It was a Kay SG copy.
