Ive never liked tube screamers but a buddy of mine said I should check out some of the new updated clones which are much cooler (less compression, less mids, better tone sweep, more gain) He has a cmatmods tubeslammer that he likes a lot but he mentioned a bunch of others to check out such as the kusac. The only one Ive tried is the barber tone pump which I didnt like much. Ive read some guys just go with the keeley or ananlogman mods. Please help me narrow the field. Anyone compare the cmatmods to the kussac?

I went through a few TS variants before finding the MI Audio Blue Boy - it has all the attributes you asked for, GREAT pedal IMO...

They're all different flavors of vanilla. IMHO if you don't like the basic TS character, which is mids and not a lot of gain, you won't like any TS variant very much.

If you have the cash go with the Landgraff Dynamic Overdrive, or if cash is an issue the Blue Boy Deluxe is an amazing pedal. Both are from the tube screamer family.

+1 on the MI Audio Blues Pro. Not as much midrange as TS, more gain on tap if needed, true bypass, new toggle that adds a bit more hair if desired, mxr size, low cost. I also like the slightly larger than normal knobs which makes changing settings on the fly with my toe easier. It has everything I wanted in an overdrive.

How does new MI Audio Blues Deluxe or so - the one with more controls - compare to original.

    what's the price in Australia?

    Love the CMATMODS Tube Slammer!
Recently got an awesome pedal that is more Rangemaster based but I think is a killer OD a bit of brighter pedal Gaspedal Carb.

I have been through a bunch of TS9 clones and the one I have had the longest and the one that has never been beaten is the MJM.....I have even been through two Landgraff's, but I just really like the MJM better.
    Call me crazy....:NUTS

Don't overlook the Jacques Tubeblower. Maybe not booteek enough, but a very nice, versatile TS variant. Does both more and less gain than a TS, and offers independent high and low EQ.

    And it's tiny (MXR-ish footprint)!

TC Jauernig DGTM. Such a fat pedal, it absolutely kills my modded SD-1.
