Environmental debate aside, electric vehicles have some really amazing power-delivery benefits. They put out virtually ALL of their power from "idle." That's one reason why diesel-ELECTRIC locomotives put steam out of business so fast.

A "Lightning" electric motorcycle won the race up Pikes Peak last year. And not just in some division created specifically for electric vehicles. They beat the Ducati team that had won the two years previous and held the record for bikes. No easy feat.

Power availability is a definite plus without all the torque bands and mechanics to deal with. I gotta think this will be in the future and ICE races will be legacy events. Electrics are just so well suited to racing. You know this if you ever raced slot cars.

You. Instant-on power. The battery thing is filled with issues from weight to recharge times to distance between charges, replacement costs, charging stations...

Does a guy riding an electric bike need to rev the throttle at stop lights? ;)

They didn't just win. They destroyed the competition. Nearly 21 seconds ahead.

Hill climb is also easier for an electric as the high altitude thin air problem internal combustion engines have isn't a problem for electric.

Just drop a Chevy body that looks like a billboard on a non-limited Tesla and go...

Whoa, I just had a great idea. Slot cars, ramped up to human size. Build an electric car with a pin, drop it into the slot, and give each drag car the same amt of juice to go down the track as fast as they can. Hell, I want to race one right now!

Can we put a drop of STP on the tires for realistic burnout smoke?
