I am thinking about ordering an amp from this store, but I am not familiar with them at all. Any fellow TGP'ers have dealings with them? I am worried about the amp arriving in one piece.

Anyone have some amp purchasing, and shipping, experience to share?

    Thanks in advance.

I haven't ordered from them, but I've stopped in while passing through town and played several amps. Nice shop. Lots of sweet gear. Everything seemed really well maintained. Cool guys to talk to.
...just passing along a favorable impression.

I traded a Gretsch 6122-1958 Country Classic 3 years ago for a new PRS 513 in Brian's shop. Brian gave me a very fair price and was great to work with. He has sent me emails to invite me to his Paul gatherings and always references the blue quilted 513 that I got from his shop. I drove down to his shop, so I did not deal with shipping, but I think that he is a stand up guy with a great little shop. I would highly recommend him.

    Very Respectfully,

    Jim Miller

Thanks for your replies. Anyone else care to chime in? I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the amp.

They have been around for decades, if it is the same "Brian" owner, I'd not worry. Great shop IME though it has been many years for me - perhaps things have changed?

Way back when, my guitar teacher worked there in sales, and I met Paul Stanley there when I was very young picking out my first "real" guitar with guidance from my guitar teacher and Brian - they let me try anything I wanted as a very young kid - and this was years before Kiss was seen without make-up LOL.

I never dealt with them for amps...I went to East Coast Music Mall for those (Ed Roman's old shop) or used at Daddy's Junky Music.

I used to deal a lot with Brian guitars in New Haven, but as I remember, Brian sold that store to Sam Ash years ago. Brian was the very best person.

Has he started up another store?

I was the bench tech / sorry luthier at Brian Guitars in New Haven in 1983. (If I screwed up your guitar, I'm very sorry. Brian, I'm sorry. Tommy, I'm sorry.)

That store was owned by Brian Cohen. The current "Brian's Guitars" is owned by Brian Giampietro.

    Sorry!

I remember Tommy also! A great player and funny as hell. That store was one of the very best guitar stores anywhere at any time.

I bought and returned a PRS guitar from Brian. The guitar arrived in perfect condition and set up to my specs. I just did not bond with the guitar. Hassle free deal from first contact through return and refund. Class act IMO.

Just wanted to post a follow up to this thread. Brian was fantastic to deal with. The amp was securely packed and his service after the sale has been awesome. Throughout the process any questions I had were answered promptly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his shop to anyone looking to buy some new gear.
Brian, if you're on TGP, thanks again for everything. Rock on!

I bought a lot of stuff there in the early 90s and always had a good experience. There was a Sales guy there who played guitar left-handed with regular strung right guitars. Basically, a backwards and upside perspective.
