Hi - anybody know a possible reason why I'm not getting any response from the brilliance control on my matchless chieftan 2x10 combo???

Many thanks to anyone who responds!!! Desperate!

No doubt something internal. Are you ready to "go in"?

It plays fine, just lost control on this control, wonder if it's tube related?. Can't lose the amp yet as I need it!

Doubtful that it's a tube issue. Reread my first post.

The brilliance or cut control really won't make much change in the sound if the master volume is low. However I doubt that is the problem as it sounds like you are very familiar with the amp.

    Turn the master volume up.

yeah..i noticed that i dont get much difference with the brilliance knob unless im pretty cranked up...not saying you haven't tried that...but would be pretty funny if that were the case...i initially thought it was a pretty useless knobs in the beginning and found out thats not the case when i got in a room where i could turn it up...im in an apartment so i had to play it low the first week i had it...have you tried that yet?

Deafness. :D For real though try turning the treble down and cranking the brilliance you should pick something up this way...at least you'll know it does something.
