The entire thread has been saved and is (god knows for how long) in that other ORG website whose name starts with "free" and ends with "stompboxes" ... Did I do this right? sigh... ;)

The Brown Rabbit is a great Rat type clone. It is very versatile, sounds fantastic and looks nice. When I bought mine it was about $159.

Here's some sound clips from the builder.

The thread, if it had survived, would've cleared the builder of any wrongdoing. The board in question is a close copy of a BYOC board but not an exact duplicate. It doesn't violate any copyright or trade-secret infringement laws from what I could see; and the purely ethical side of it in in my opinion is that it is harmless as well. Some builders have a "pride" issue with making completely unique layouts, and others don't see it in that light at all. No big deal. It's not a crime in any sense of the word to create a layout of your own that simply looks similar to someone else's layout. It is obviously an original work if you look at the traces and the shape of the board, etc.; in fact there are a few non-incidental changes that I could make out that allowed for different type/sized components.

I may have started it down a dark dark path. I don't know, I didn't check back after I posted. If I did, it was not my intention.
