Hey, I'm mostly a bedroom player and I'm looking to add a clean amp to my collection. Right now, I play through an Aiken Invader and a Soldano Astroverb, and need something on the clean/very mild OD end of the spectrum. I will NOT have a chance to play one before buying. I play a chambered Suhr Standard H/S/S, PRS CU24, and Gibson LP Std.

Think this is a good choice for me?

Yeah, that. What do you think about that with a 1x12 Fane Alnico?

Has anyone played any Alessandros? I was also kind of looking at the Black n' Tan, but when I emailed him (Alessandro) about what I wanted to get in an amp and if any of his amps would be good for me, he didn't answer.

I have one coming tomorrow or Thursday. (Cowtipper22) Tony Bruno put a G12h30 speaker in in, and thats what I had demoed it with. FANTASTIC sounding amp!

The Rottweiler working dog is my personal fave of the Allesandros that I have heard. I really liked that model. The "High end" models are way to bright IMO.

To me it depends on what kinda Cleans your after.

If you want Pristine Clean the try a Carr Rambler with a Jensen reissue c12n in it.

If you want the kinda cleans I like then maybe try a Tweed Clone such as an SDG Vintage. I dont like the Pristine Clean thing. I prefer the Warm with a little roughness waiting around the corner Clean.

I want the full, rich clean with a bit of slight, warm, un-harsh OD added on top to just give the notes a little more character/depth.

The CT22 is one of my favourite amps but I would hesitate to call it a "bedroom amp" - one I tried belonged to someone in a Wedding Function type band!
There is no Master Volume on this amp. Even the cleans sound better quite loud. To my mind it sounds best with the amp set to mild overdrive then dialed back for clean with the guitar volume.

    Trust this helps.

    Pete.

I'll invest in a Hotplate. Randall Aiken needs to put his attenuator in stand-alone form, the one on my Invader kicks ass.

You may actually prefer the Underground 30 for that. I have a 3\10 UG 30, and it is an INSANE amp. I have a Cowtipper 45, and my 22 will be here in the next day or two. Hopefully I can post clips of both the UG 30 and the Cow 22 for you and see which you like more. The UG 30 has the EL84 tubes, so you get kind of a thicker mid complexity. The Cow 22 is more of a pure tone, and very much like an improved blackface Fender. (No mud on the bottom and no harshness in the treble) I did have all three together at Ultrasound, and I think I preferred the Cow 22. They are both so great, and are both pure Tony Bruno. The best amp builder ever IMO. Listen to the complexity in my top clip here. (Let it run untill I start playing "Michelle" by the Beatles)

Its the UG 30 straight in with a LP RI. STUNNING tone imo, and done in my bedroom. NOT a professional studio.

I can't get the link to work. Gives me some weird error.

I kinda swore off EL84s. I already have 2 EL84 amps, was kinda hoping to avoid a third. Maybe the UG30 IS my amp... but I dunno. I'll need to hear clips.

Weird. Try going here, then clicking on "music" where it says 40 clips by artist tag 101
