I built one last week, and it's really terrific. I'm very happy with it.

I have tried to tell many about this pedal, for the buck it bangs harder than almost anything. I picked this one up from a fellow gearpage forumite. This pedal is good. It sits between my CJOD and my Timmy. All of them just waiting for daddy to stomp on them

Yeah it reminded me of Squiers 'Lonely is the Night' tone -- raw and organically rippin'

I got a Bsiab from OZFX and it sucked to my ears. Sounded nothing like the clips. has anyone here tested an original BSIAB against BSIAB 2? Do you guys have your amps already pretty hot when using this pedal? My BSIAB sounded like a ds-1 :(

To address the "DS-1" sounding issue:
First off, I think they are miles apart.
    But be sure that:
    1. you are not using alkaline batteries, heavy duty ones really do sound better. much less fizzy.
    2. do not turn the tone knob up too high.
    3. try using a clean channel or very little amp distortion. (I read somewhere that it was designed to sound good through a clean fender amp, such as a Super Reverb)
    4. the BSIAB II is supposed to be a significant improvement over the original BSIAB.

I also want to know about that "contour" knob...
perhaps this will help this persons complaint as well.

i used a carr rambler(king of clean :) and tried diff. tone settings and yes there has GOT to be a vast improvement of tone in the bsiab 2 :) and seriously thegrooveking i highly covet thy pedals!! i bet you have rooms full of them dont you.

I built a BSIAB 2 not to long ago and it sounds good with my 65 DRRI but when I clipped the bright cap in my amp it sounds more on the dull side and turning up the tone just thins it out.

Its not a bad pedal but I like my OCD a lot better!

I built a BSIAB II awhile ago. It was one of the first of a handful of pedals I've built. Was fairly easy to build, and sounds great. It sounds exceptional with a Marshall, and pretty good with a clean Fender. I don't think it sounds like a Boss at all.

I am also interested in what the contour control is for. I've never seen that.

You have a BSIAB II. I just labeled it BSIAB. I think the BSIAB II works best into a clean amp.

I got mine from OZFX too and it sounds great !, it has its own sound tho and could be inaapropriate for some rigs - EQ especially could not match up well (mines a clean deluxe Reverb btw)

    Well
What does that contour knob do anyway?
    We never got an explanation.

I just won one of these BSIAB IIs on Evilbay. I asked the owner what the contour knob does. Here is his answer: "The contour knob acts like the contour knob on a Marshall amp. It basically controls the mid-range response of the pedal, so you can sweep the mids or scoop them out to get the type of tone you need. It makes the pedal even more versatile than the old three knob pedal."

I'll report my findings on this pedal after it arrives. :AOK

man, i have been beating my head against a bsiab 2 for the last week. i have built several pedals and a few amps, and just when i thought i was getting good - BAM. my dad says it is outsmarting me.

    he's probably right.
