Buffer Advice Please

Hey guys,

I've got a travel rig at the moment that's currently set up as:

Hot Cake/Lehle Parallel (depending on guitar) > Fairfield Barbershop Modele B > Dunlop Mini Volume

I was wondering that because the volume pedal is a passive model would it function better with another buffer in front of it or is the line well buffered with the Hot Cake/Lehle? Also is it ok to have an overdrive going straight into a passive volume pedal?

Cheers

That's a pretty short pedal chain, it looks like the Hot Cake and the Lehle will take care of all the buffering needs for you. The Dunlop Mini Volume has a 250kOhm high impedance pot so by right it will have the best taper immediately after the guitar (provided that the guitar has passive pickups). I have however seen plenty of folks happy with the Dunlop VP after a buffer so if the taper works for you then all is well. There's no issue having the overdrive go straight into a passive volume pedal.

Cheers!

Great thanks very much! I'll give it a try before the buffer and see if it's any different but hopefully it'll be ok
