Title says it! If you were ready to buy a new R9 today, what sellers currently have ...
    • best selection volume?
    • best quality (tops, options)?
    • most accurate descriptions?
    • best customer support?
I am thinking about getting one, and my list includes Wildwood, Willcutt, Dave's, House Of Guitars, and a cursory look at GC/MF & Sam Ash. Am I missing anyone major?

    Wildwood.

Call Lance - although many people there are excellent. If what you list in the OP are your parameters, I think WW is a slam dunk. They have by far exceeded my expectations from a store where you are really relying on someone else to be your eyes and ears.

I had to call the owner Steve to thank him for the overall excellent experience.

I would say buy with confidence from this excellent organization.

Came here to say this. Call Lance at Wildwood. I just scored something unbelievable from there.

Another good experience with Wildwood here.

Wildwood for sure, and another vote for Lance.

The last guitar (SG) I bought was from Wildwood, Steve S. He was insanely good as far as customer service goes.

Mark's Guitar Loft is amazing and probably has thee most accurate descriptions in the biz.

House of Guitars, ask for Curt. Another epic store.

I've also had good luck with Eddie's Guitar, Brett was the same guy and a former sponsor here, but I had to be slightly more active as a buyer to get answers.

Wildwood is at the top of my list. Huge selection and Bruce has always been great to deal with.

That said, selection/stock for these 60th Anniversary R9s is currently low in the US. Better act fast and grab the one you like best if you really want one.

I read that the 60th Anniversary R0s will have three variants. One variant, which is based on the early 1960 LPs, will have the '59 profile. The other variants will have a thinner neck. So keep an eye out for the NAMM news on that. Because that is likely what Gibson Custom has been producing the past several months.

Edit - Here is the 60th Anni R0:
    https://www.gibson.com/Guitar/CUSQK...960-Les-Paul-Standard/V1-Deep-Cherry-Sunburst

And the three neck profiles are '59 (V1), Slim (V2) and Skinny (V3).

I wouldn't focus on one, gotta see all the tops out there. Add Chicago Music Exchange and Music Zoo to the list.

I'm another happy customer of Wildwood with a WW R8 and also have an great Chicago Music Exchange R8 and can recommend them both.

They are actually identical models and each have their own individual attributes and are both stellar players but the CME one does have terrible dye bleed into the binding. It's not a fault of theirs, that's a Gibson thing and some is normal but this thread reminded me to check into it - I've been putting it off!

The H.O.G. would not be on my list. I've seen the way they treat guitars there, even high end expensive guitars.

I’d buy it from anything but I got mine at CME. The store is awesome and the people were great. I played it first as I was on a business trip in Chicago so that helped. Mine has the CME serial number but it allowed me to get a R9 (technically an R8) but for like $150 more than a R8. If I wanted an R9, the CME spec R8 is where I’d look first. Save $1000 unless you need a super flame top.

Hmmm ... I would bucket that under "customer support" I suppose!

Great responses, all! I'm very appreciative of all of your thoughts.
This is why I do love TGP, and what we do best (other than argue about inconsequential junk, that is).

Wildwood. Best set up and inspection on the planet. They simply do not sell duds.

Over the years I have bought guitars from Lance, Bruce, and one from Steve the owner.
