I have the opportunity to get good deals locally on an empty CAA 2x12 cabinet, or a Mesa Boogie Royal Atlantic 1x12 27" cab, intended for use with a CAA OD100 Standard +.

Anyone want to give some input on which one they would choose? And for the CAA cab, what speakers would you recommend? The Mesa cab got a C90 speaker.

And btw, the Mesa would be about half the cost of the loaded CAA.

Thanks in advance for input! :)

If it were me, I'd go with the 2x12. With a 100 watt heat you would limited to high wattage speakers in the 1x12 cab. With a 2x12 you have more options. As for which speakers, Celestion Vintage 30s or Celestion Creambacks (or other higher wattage greenback style speaker) would be a solid choice.

I have that amp, it really likes the CAA 2x12. V30 variant works best.

I have a 2nd one with Scumbacks, it records fantastic, but a little mid scooped live.

Maybe Suhr can offer some advice.

I see that Suhr mentions both Eminence Governors and wgs veteran 30, but that could be outdated, any opinions on those?

Just talked to Suhr CS, they recommend the Warehouse Vet 30 speaker. For info. :)
