My band uses a Yamaha MG166CX for sound. I usually run the kick drum and the bass through "Group 1-2" on the mixer, and then send that group to the sub. Here's a link to the Yamaha.

We have an ELX118P Active Powered Sub.

Which sort of cable do I need? TRS? Instrument cable? Speaker Cable? I'm so confused.

    Thanks in advance!

Male TRS on one end and male TRS or XLR on the other.

Mic/line cable (same stuff), not speaker cable. Whatever connectors you need (XLR/TRS etc).

You could also use an aux send (if you have a spare).

Be sure to also send the kick and bass to the mains-they have frequencies that need to go to more than just the sub.

I have an unused Aux 2 that I can send pre fader....but quite honestly I have no idea what I'm doing in regards to PA. I'm learning on the fly.
