For guys with cabs that convert between open and closed back...how are you running yours? Just wondering because my Z 2x10 converts...and I am not set yet on which I prefer. But while I'm deciding, I'd like to know what differences you hear between your cabs when open back vs closed.
    Thanks,

I prefer one back panel removed of the ones that have three back panels.

I've got a 1995 Mesa Rectifier cabinet with a 2 piece back. I like it closed with the original v30's and also with the Celestion Alnico Golds in it now. Open had a lot of murky low mids. I like the focus of closed even with Alnicos.

I think it is interesting that the boutique guys are using a closed back with an oval cut into the middle. it seems of all the iterations, this is the one they all choose to use on their combos.

Ive got some cabinets ( 4 x 1 x 12 ) like the EV TS806 with Hemp Coned JBL E120's in them. I like them Ported. Sometimes I combine Semi Open and Ported. I usually only run 2 cabinets.
