I bought one of their cd’s many years ago.....

I think I’ll just stream them on Spotify now...
Cd’s are all stuck away in garage somewhere.

Obviously one of Van Halen’s major influences. Cactus could really boogie!

    Cactus were bada$$!

Now I’ve gotta go back through my vinyl to see if I kept it.

Saw Cactus twice at the Fillmore East and once at the University of Virginia. My friend and former band mate Pete Bremy was playing with them for a while, but he left the band around the same time Jimmy McCarty left. Pete's main gig is Vanilla Fudge.

Carmine Appice is the only original member left in Cactus. Tim Bogert retired year ago and lives in California.

All hail the power of the Ampeg Scrambler! Jim McCarty had a real unique fuzzy nasty lead sound.

McCarty is a killer guitarist. Just wish they were able to break out of the I-IV-V format.

Wore the grooves out of "Restrictions". Ah, the soundtrack of my mis-spent youth.

The first rock concert I ever saw was the Faces with Cactus and Bull Angus as opening acts. I was ten years old and begged my dad to take me so I could see Cactus, I still love them. McCarty to me is up there with the greats.

Does anyone else remember Bull Angus? They were pretty good too.

Have loved their version of "Parchman Farm" since I first heard it years ago! Still listen to the studio version of it and "No Need to Worry".

When I was just starting out on guitar I had the good fortune to be given this triple live album with Hendrix, Winter, Alvin Lee, Mountain, Allmans and Poco, all of whom were incredibly exciting acts but it was Cactus who really blew me away.

Jimmy’s playing was simply “off the scale” great and made me realise that I needed to look and listen beyond the “bigger names”. I’m a big fan of the late Rusty Day’s loose, swaggering vocal style as well.

According to the Youngs, Cactus were a big influence on them as well.

I have 3 of them, I think, on vinyl. I am partial to "One Way...or Another."

    "Bedroom Mazurka!"
