I was at Indoor Storm yesterday to see my good friend Eddie Berman and to try out some amps. Well, I tried a Fuchs OD50 and it was good. But then Eddie plugged me into John Suhr's CAE OD 100 set on the clean channel. I played a chord and I was floored. I have been playing for over 25 years and have had many boutique amps but none of them compare to the clean tones I heard from the OD100. I looked at Eddie after I had been playing for over 30 minutes and my jaw was on the floor, Eddie smiled and said," I feel ya". And that was just the clean channel! Eddie then switched me to the dirty channel and it was drop jaw sydrome again
I played for another 30 or 40 minutes. I told Eddie that I haven't had this much FUN playing an amp in many many years. I think I have found my holy grail. And get this, it was the regular stock CAE OD100! No Henderson mods or SE channel, just the stock stuf and it rocked
I 'm 46 years old and I think I know what I want for my 47th bday in July.
Congratulations Mr.John Suhr
for making a truly great tone machine.
p.s. I also tried out a Carr Rambler 2x10 combo with an Xotic BB pedal and got some fantastic tones as well. Not like the CAE but close enough for low volume gigs.
