Hey I was listening to Hail the Thief the other day and was wondering if anyone knows what modulation effect Jonny uses during the chorus. It kinda sounds like a weird delay to me, but I wanted to see if your guys' opinion on what he uses.

Here's a link to the songs for reference:

Thanks for the help!

Yeah, sounds like a delay set with a fast time (~100 ms or less) with a bunch of repeats.

Check out this Kills performance around 1:25...

Yeah my guess is he either used his Space Echo (either with or without the RV-3) or he used a Max/MSP patch to give the same rapid delay time with feedback whenever he played this part. The end of the song is famous for his use of a Max/MSP patch which samples and holds/repeats his playing randomly, so it's not out of the question.

Yah that delay effect the Kills guitarist uses does sound a lot like it, I bet that's how he does it :p While we're on this note, does anyone know how Ed O'Brien gets his guitar to sustain forever on Iron Lung?

Here's a live version of the song:

Great! Thanks for the help everyone. Does the RE20 do a good job of replicating radiohead-ish delays?

I play a lot of Radiohead covers and the RE20 does an amazing job of duplicating any and everything. Jonny even switched to an RE20 for live use, so you'll be 100% on the mark.

The chorus parts sound like space echo/RV-3. The outro is his guitar run through some laptop plugin to do that crazy glitchy stuttering

Good to know! So one more question (at least for know) What do they use to get that warbling effect during the chorus of paranoid android. It kinda sounds like there using the whammy, but there's something else going on to. Any ideas?
