I want an ElecLady to get those killer Andy Summers sounds from his days in The Police, but I also need to cover Barracuda. Please share your experiences before I pull the trigger.

unless you could find the flanger kit he used, I think you should be able to dial something in close to it.

The Toadworks Barracuda flanger is supposed to be the closest thing to it, codesigned with one of the Heart guitarists that had one. It is supposed to be an unusual circuit. Nancy Wilson currently uses an old Ibanez FL-801 flanger. The ElecLady can get in the ballpark, but as an Electric Mistress clone, it is easier to do Andy Summer. You just have to dial the regeneration in carefully. The MXR is easier to dial that in, but the ElecLady will probably work.

Eric Johnson uses that Toadworks for High Landrons these days.

Depends on your standards. I've done Barracuda in a cover band with NO flanger, and Police covers with no chorus or flanger. And no one even noticed.

So if you have a flanger, you have more than you need. IMHO you can use any flanger or no flanger!

I've got the Hartman flanger, which (like the Mooer) is an Electric Mistress clone. It doesn't really do the "swept flanger" thing a la Barracuda. It nails Police tones, though.

The MXR won't do Barracuda since the LFO has a weird "flip" at the bottom of the sweep-it's not smooth.

I have the MXR Micro Flanger and I love the sound it makes when we play Barracuda. YMMV I guess.

Itll get you in the ball park. More for summers & gilmour tones. Also has a slight volume drop... Thats why I got rid of mine. The Source Audio mercury however can dial it in and more for sure with some tweakin

    This!

Was playing it yesterday and wasn't dissatisfied at all, it was fun.

However, on the setting I use, I don't notice any volume drop whatsoever. Sounds great for the small cost. Definitely worth trying one out to see if you like it.

My setting: 10:30 / (big knob) 2:00-4:00 / Off (7:00) (controls from left to right)
