Hi Gang ... so I don't have a 6V6 right now & my son was given this amp without tubes. I believe it's functions as a single ended amp (one power tube) but this amp has a lot of solid state to it. Can I use a 6L6 ... will I harm anything ... might it not give me a bit of a more "solid" sound?

    Thanks Randall

Not sure if anyone has spec's on the transformers, but it's possible to overtax, and/or kill, the power transformer if it can't supply the additional heater current needed.

Changing power tubes doesn't necessarily change the power of your amp (as in "more solid" sounding). The power supply has the final word.

Thanks Mike ... but can I at least try the amp out for a few minutes with the 6L6 ... anyone else have any thoughts or experience with this particular amp.

    Thanks Randall

A few minutes doesn't seem too risky. But if it blows up it's on you. :D
