Can someone point out a fantastic HD500 clip?

Not just a good clip. A fantastic clip. Not cleans preferably. I still can't find on that makes my jaw drop. I used to own the HD500 and I couldn't get the tone I needed even with lots of tweaking.

Chris released this not long after the HD series came out.

That's so subjective, but here's a few I dig.

Actually the HD300, but the model will be in the 500 soon

If ye seekish metal, HD500 vs Axe FX

There was also a nice clip where the Park 75 was put up against the real deal, very convincing IMHO.

Not without external IR's. I've recently gotten a full handle on how to combine two different onboard IR's. Done right it sounds as good as external IR's, but you use two amp models, and occasionally an effect or two to force them to phase correct; so you're left with very little DSP.

I'll try to do some recordings soon.

Edit: At least for high gain stuff. I think it can handle low and mid gain very nicely without too much trickery.

I like this one. I actually got an HD500 this morning, to replace an enoumous pedal board. I had heard they came with poor presets and manual; out of the first 64 factory presets I found one I liked and yes the manual is dreadful, but, I have just programmed in an Yngwie preset copied from a Youtube video, and all of a sudden I am very happy!

Clips won't tell you how YOU will get good sound (or not) out of the unit, though. Only learning to use it and dialing up your own patch will get you there.

I will get buried for saying this, but you logically can't make fantastic clips with a unit that doesn't sound fantastic.

I owned it, and the best I could get was very good, and certainly good enough.

But never fantastic.

Seriously.

As an owner of a POD HD 500, I agree. It's always sounded good, and sometimes very good. I have heard amazing and great clips from Kemper and AxII, but never from the HD 500.

I have a Bogner Shiva, it get's amazing and great tones. The HD, not so much, but the HD does things the Bogner can't and has it's own purpose and for that I can deal with merely "good" tone.

Fantastic is even relative...

Fantastic is even relative...

Yeah..to be 100% honest at this point in my life, I've heard enough different tonal approaches to guitar that nothing purely tone related much phases me anymore. There's sounds that I like, and those that I don't. And even when it's a tone I don't like, often within a context I do like it.

Fantastic is relative.

I'd agree with your assessment....but fantastic for one person might be very good for another.

I've played a Trainwreck Rocket. Other people would think their amp sounds amazing....because they have never played the real deal.
