I've heard that fuzz face pedals get gated when the bias knob is tweaked, is this true? How gated is gated???

    thanks!

No. More like... Buzzy. Choked. I wouldn't call it gated.

I'm not sure that "gate" is a term associated with FF type circuits. Buzzy and choked are appropriate words.

    MKI is gated.

Not necessarily. Some MKIs don't gate.
FF type circuits sure can be set up to gate. The Tone Bender MK1.5 is prone to gating, but it depends on the transistors..

Maybe a recent red dot NKT could be dialed in for a gated sound, as we put in a large value sundial PLUS an internal bias trimpot now. Peppermint Fuzz is better if you want a gated fuzz sound. Hope that helps!

    This.

If you want gated sounds you definitely should, that's exclusively what I use it for.

I just received a red dot Sunlion, and I love the range of the Sundial! It comes pretty close to the Peppermint when the Sundial is around 9 o'clock.
