Can you swap transistors in a HBE Germania?

I'm waiting on a Germania I purchased in the Emporium and I'm wondering if the germanium transistor is socketed and can you swap transistors? Can I try a OC44 in it? or is it pretty much just dialed in for whatever germanium transistor that is in it originally?...and anyone know what transistor it has in it stock?
