Care to tell me what you think of the Telemaster I'm building?

So, I'm in the process of securing parts to build this (but with the addition of a Bigsby):

Any thoughts? I'll be putting a Loller JM pup in the neck, and a Fralin 10% overwound Tele pup in the bridge. Thoughts, criticisms, praise?

Will you be putting on a B5 bridgeplate instead of notching the back of a regular ashtray? If so, you'll have to do a little work with the pickguard to match the rounded contour, but would be my suggestion for the slickest looks, coupled with a Mustang bridge.

Gonna be nice however you do it!

Hmmm, there's an idea that I might have to "borrow" for next summer's building season. :aok

I whipped this up in photoshop for another TGP'er doing a Telemaster build. Maybe it'll help:

I like it. I think the Jazzmaster body shape is an excellent platform for many different pickup configurations. And you left out the weak parts of the Jazzmaster, the stupid no-sustaining tremolo system and the 'tarded switching system. Cool!

Haha I'd say that counts as a ringing endorsement? Thanks! haha

I was planning on using the B5 bridgeplate, and I mentioned to the luthier that's building the parts that I would be, so hopefully he knows to round it. I didn't even think to mention it. Hopefully I won't have to sand down my custom pickguard or something. haha

    Thanks!

Go for it, and show some pics of the process!

I like it. Make'n Music is where I originally stole this idea from, but it's nice to see it in all the different colors. I really like the blue one in the bottom row!

Thanks! I'm really excited about this bad boy.

Yeah, I'd seen that before. I wasn't claiming to be groundbreaking, I just added a few touches of my own, and wanted to see what people thought. :)

With your approval I will now carry on. haha

Thanks a lot! I'll post pics the second parts start coming in. I already have some Dunlop strap locks for it, but I doubt anyone wants to see pictures for that haha.

I'm sort of surprised more guitars don't have the blue on white color combo though. Is there a reason though? I don't think I can remember ever seeing another white guitar with a blue pickguard, but they're my two favorite colors. :huh

A white body with blue accents gets a thumbs up from me!

Oh, it looks like Fender already thought of this scheme:

But it's a Competition stripe, not the pickguard like you're thinking of:

See, both of those look awesome to me. I wonder why it's not a much more popular color scheme?

    The build begins.

    Jason Lollar Jazzmaster neck pickup
Lindy Fralin 10% overwound Telecaster bridge pickup
Bigsby B5 Vibrato system for Teles/Jazzmasters

Apparently the neck still has a few weeks left until it's done, the pickguard, screws, etc. I'm not sure if they're done, but apparently the body was shipped out on Wednesday. I can't wait to finish putting this thing together. :D

Going back to Guitar Mill tomorrow to get the body drilled, and to check the status on my neck and pickguard.

Well, after a lot more waiting, they told me that I should be able to come pick up all of the parts this Thursday evening! That means that in less than a week, I should be able to put my Telemaster together. I could not be more excited right now!
