Hi,

I know we all wish it was true but I'm only kidding. This tune is all me. The story is this. A friend who plays only covers made me a bet. As I always write my own tunes he wanted to know if I could arrange and record a cover.

I choose "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and I was very influenced by Larry Carlton for the guitar (please note I still sound like me :( ) and Babyface for the arrangement.

Please tell me what you think of the mix as this is the first time I recorded and mixed on headphones only.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Hope you enjoy it!

I thought you nailed Larry's vibe to a "T". Very nice!! The backing was great but somehow I was not thinking Babyface. Maybe a few gospelish subs? On the other hand, the guitar achieved your goal.

Killer work. Thanks for posting.

Hi Scott and Mike,

I was almost ashamed to put myself in the same sentence as the esteemed Mr C. I was afraid that people here would come on me like a ton of bricks. You two are really too kind. Thanks for listening!

Cheers,

Hi LilSteve,

Thanks for listening!

I used a PRS McCarty (stock) and I recorded it direct to computer using my Boss GS-10 using the Warm Clean amp model. Delay (Kjaerhus) and reverb (tc electronics) plug-ins added in the mix.
I'm very please with the GS-10 as it works great with both single coils and humbuckers.

Cheers,

Hi,

Glynn and Hammertoe - Thanks for listening and the encouragement.

Scottl - This is a very easy to use freeware (hooray!) that sounds great on guitars and almost everything. It can be found at:
http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/classic-delay.php

While you're at their site, do yourself a favour and check out their other free plug-ins. If you like chorus then try the Kjaerhus on both guitars and Rhodes. It's the only chorus plug-in I use.

Cheers,
