Trails mode for me... haven't switched it out since I changed to trails. But makes sense that not everyone would want the preamp sound in there..
    it is obvious.

I think the choice largely depends on your playing style, gear, specific setup, etc.

I agree, and what about a collaborative effort / inspired version of Mr. Black SS-850 Solid State Echo Chamber's buttons and functions? - Aren't they all in Portland even, same town, and what's the deal with Portland and music business anyway- Andy, ProGuitarShop and also Reverb.Com all in Portland, Oregon (or did I get all that wrong) ?

Then again I already have the BED (love it), an updated version would force me to sell and buy again...

Mr Black wrote the code for the Echorec, designed PCB for 5f6, and apparently had some influence in circuit design for BED, so not a huge leap.

Not sure why someone wouldn't have in trails mode and adjust eq of whole rig as mentioned above? Then the coloration of the preamp would be factored out. If you don't want the repeats to carry over, just set the expression control for volume and turn them off that way.

Someone like me who is experimenting with the effect it has on other pedals and where its placed in my signal chain and likes to quickly A/B the preamp in and out in those situations. It does effect other drives placed after it and I like being able to quickly see what the normal response of the drive is without the pre pushing it.

Of course. I've put it in bypass to test things out. But as far as integrating it permanently into a rig it just makes sense to have it always on.

I received the BED as a Christmas present. What a fantastic pedal. I love it! It inspired a few new songs and lots of experimenting.

Now I am on the search for an expression pedal.

I got the Dunlop X volume/expression in the mini form factor. Works great.

Thanks! That sounds perfect. I think I’ll get one, and the TRS cable.

Still tweaking the final layout. I’ve left myself some room to grow.

There's a lot of artist types in Portland, the rain basically demands you have a twisted sense of humor in order to live here I think?
Catlinbread, Mr. Black and ProGuitar/Andy are here.. I think Reverb is in Chicago.
There are a bunch of other great guitar shops that are also here.. also some great bands.

I got the regular Dunlop X.

I dig it because it can be used as either an expression or volume pedal.

So can the mini! Only sacrifice is that it EITHER does expression OR tuner output during volume use, while the full size pedal has jacks for both. But since you only ever use it as one or the other, it doesn’t bug me.

    Me too.

So I technically could have got the mini, but I went for the full size.

Subdecay are also in the vicinity, an undervalued company with great product and customer service.

I switched my BED to trails mode yesterday and I dont think I will be changing it back. Really warms and fattens the tone and everything else sounds great through it.
