Hi,
I'm looking to get a Catalinbread Formula 5... really like the tweed sound...

What is the difference between the two versions ? Is it worth the extra money for the latest ?

Thanks !
Victor

They are the same pedal with different cosmetics. The new one came out around the time when they increased their prices.

Awesome pedal.

They are the same pedal with different cosmetics.

Not exactly correct. Quoting myself from another thread:

Here's the answer I got when I asked it a while back. This is direct from C-bread:

"the pedal is more dynamic, a tad less compressed, and a little fuller sounding across the entire freq spread."

Interesting, I swear I read a post from them that they were the same.

Ah, from another thread:

I remember reading a post by someone from catalinbread saying the circuit is the same, only the appearance has changed.

That was stated when it first came out. However that was overturned as the official statement later on. There were tweaks made.

FWIW, I am a BIG Catalinbread fan and usually feel the need to upgrade. I'm so happy with my original Fn5, I'm not missing anything like "bigger, lusher and more dynamic".

I have a v1 FN5 and love it... I feel much like Tweeker. Its sounds covers a lot of my needs for medium gain and it plays nicely with others, I've never felt the need to "upgrade" it at all.

Thanks everyone...

I thought I remember reading somewhere about 'even greasier sound' which is what I'm after...Think I'll get the latest one...

Thanks again

Also might want to check out the Wampler Tweed 57

My two cents here... I had Fn5, sold it to fund the Wampler '57 and went back to. He Fn5. The '57 sounded great all alone and at bedroom levels, but the Fn5 sounds better at gig volumes to my ears and worked better with other pedals.
