Which Celestion 10" speaker?
I have C10L-35s and C10S-50's. The simplest way I can put it is that the 35's are a bit like Celestion 12" greenbacks, and the 50's are more like G12-65s.
The 35's have earlier break up and a tad brighter, the 50's have later break up, more bass and more rounded off highs. I think they are both great. I also like Weber Silver Ten ceramic and Blue Pup ceramic, 10" speakers.

I really like the G10 Vintage, especially in multiple 10 cabs. You can rick out with them, but they also sound nice with blackface-type amps.

Also note that they have just put a G10 Greenback out. I have a couple on order.

bosstone, what do you think a combo of a G10L-35 and a G10S-50 would sound like? I have a 2x10 cab that's going to become my main cab for a JTM45 clone and I want to get as much of a Celestion sound out of it as I can. I have a G10S-50 in there already, but it's paired with a Ragin' Cajun.

What about older Celestion 10"s? A pal of mine had a '65 Vibrolux Reverb with some sort of Celestions, in 1983. It sounded great. I wish I'd been paying more attention.

G10V are great! I used on to replace a blown Matchless 10 in My ES410 cab-that cab has never sounded better!

I wouldn't hesitate to try it. You will probably get a nice sound but let your ears be your guide. Your opinion is the only one that matters. I haven't gotten around to doing it but originally I bought the pair of G10S-50's to pair with my G10L-35's in a Marshall 1965B (highly recommended) cab. I ended putting one of the G10S-50's in a single 10" detuned cab and just don't want to take it out.

Thanks! That's not a bad suggestion, I might be on the line of a 16 ohm G10S-50, too. My 2x10 is a little bigger than most at 24x20x11. I could make a closed back for it and try going the detuned route. It's not optimal size, but it should sound OK.

I think I remember seeing a pic somewhere of a 10" Celestion Gold shown at NAAM this year.

I saw the new Celestion 10" Alnico Gold at the NAMM Show. Looked
like a good speaker. May be worth the wait...

They also had the new 10" 30 Watt G10 Greenback.

The Vintage 10's that were out until 5 or 6 years ago were cool speakers-the new version has some different specs that may or may not work for what you're looking for. Also, the new Eminence Ramrod 10" compares favorably to both Vintage 10's and the Silver Series 10" speakers,IMO.Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Hmm I have a Super Champ shipping to me now with a mystery speaker in it. If it doesn't pan out, a Celestion Gold 10 Inch speaker sounds mighty tempting. Good match for the Super Champ, wattage wise?
