Here is the sequence of how things get done in corporations.

The sequence moves from the most clueless to the most knowledgable. In other words, those least qualified to make decisions are those who make the most important decisions.

There is also a reverse sequence that goes from the most comprehisible to the most obtuse. In other words, as information moves up the chain of command, there are increasing levels of BS.

    1. Executives - justifies their existence with some crazy idea
    2. Marketing - announces new buzzword laden product
    3. Middle management - promises the world
    4. R&D - expected to violate known physical laws
    5. Engineers - expected to cram five years of effort into one

So yeah, any day now. ;)

Tonequest did a review of the golds in the latest issue, so they are at least in limited production. TQ used them with an AC50 and loved them-said they sounded basically like a beefier blue, which is what the goal was. As you would expect, they had to get a bit louder to get to the sweet spot. Should be a good option for the many 1x12 combos over 15W and the 2x12's over 30W.

They are in production and should be here for late Oct or early Nov. There are a few artist using them already using them including Brad Paisley.

I've never played a Blue before, the low power handling always put me off due to the fact most of the amps I have owned are 100watters.
What would 4xGolds be like in a 4x12 with say a Komet amp or a Marshall?

I had four blues in a Marshall cab for a while. It was loud! I prefer the sound of four very old greenbacks.

OK! I had a couple of hours with it BUT it was with an amp that I just finished building that I am unfamiliar with!

So far I Like it VERY MUCH!

I got to play it with my Lightening clone! It paired VERY well with the Lightening! It handles bass VERY well! The high end is very smooth! Mids are a little compressed but it should smooth out when it's broken in. Could also be the amp though! I haven't had the amp finished for long so the amp is new to me as is the speaker! It's at my office and I didn't know I was getting it today until I got to work and all of my regular amps are home. I will bring them in tomorrow and give more results.

Tomorrow I try it with my 18 watt Trem and JTM45. I may try it in a 2x12 convertible cab as well. More tomorrow!

Yep, the Gold 2x12 is actually my main cab with the Maz Sr. It's a killer match to me. That said, the Gold's are hitting the market now, so be on the lookout for non-biased opinions. I'm sure reviews will be sprouting up.

    Cheers,
    Rick
