Has anyone heard these?
Lance, I thought Matte had a tester?
Are these the 50watt version of the Blue?
Yes. I saw them at NAMM. Celestion was very pleased with the product. High price tag - same as the Blue. Their target market includes high end amp manufacturers who won't be afraid to tack another $500 bucks on the price tag for these puppies..
Nobody has heard them....actually I should say nobody outside of Celestion. They are slated to be in April or May's production. Email me if you have questions and I'll try to help. Cheers, Rick
I heard they were heard at NAMM.....not an actual production model but a prototype.
How about that?
If these are on tonal par with my Celestion Blues this will be my dream come true!! Finally an Alnico "Blue" for my 100 watt heads! I feel giddy like a school girl....
But you can already use the Blue with a 100W head...you just need two 4x12's full of them to handle the power...
I tried to get some info on these today, looks like they will be out about july according to what I heard from 2 different places. Retail 299 each street probably 260-275 each.
According to the Celestion people at the NAMM booth, that's precisely what they were designed to be - a 50W Blue. I was told that they've nailed it. Sounds good to me. A 50W Celestion Gold + Heritage 12-65 would be a formidable combination.
im still deciding on if 2 of these or 2 blues would sound better with my hot cat 30r head.
Never tried the Fane Alnico Blues? They are 100 watts each, and kick @$$! I am running a pair in a THD 2x12 with my SLO, and they sound incredible. No Alnico flub here!!! Just all the sweetness!
Still haven't heard the Celestion 50w Alnico, but I have a good feeling they will be good sounding speakers, since the 25 w Celestion Alnico that Marshall is using on the 40th Anniversary cabs sounds great!
Can't wait for the 50w gold.
I may have to drop one in my Blues Deluxe. Very cool indeed.
John, that's what the "other people" are for.......glad to see that reports of your demise were highly exaggerated.
>>I feel giddy like a school girl<<
As the father of two former school girls, I can tell you that they're not usually that friggin' giddy.
Just an FYI.
